Post BIKE POLO
Word on the skreet, http://www.bikepolo.ca/forum/general/2009/01/11/nahbs-bike-polo,
is that there is going to be a huge amount of people coming to Indy to play some polo this weekend, possibly Indy's FIRST ever tourney, and they are looking for a good place to play. a couple places have been thrown around, but nothing is for sure and most parking lots in the immediate area are bound to be full.

does anyone know if the tennis courts at IUPUI are accessible?

Also, a league has been created:http:http://www.bikepolo.ca/club/naptown-hardcourt-bicycle-polo

so far we have houdini logic, Chris Graven from Monon Bike, and some dude in Florida(?).
we need more.

i highly doubt they are, i'm pretty sure they get regularly used anyway. IUPUI is very protective of their sports facilities.
I'll keep my eyes open for something

Also, I had a dialogue going with someone from Indy Parks this summer. I ended up moving and switching priorities, but the guy I was emailing with sounded interested in helping find a space. I think his big concern was the lack of helmets and amount of bike on bike violence.

if we can get a legit setup it might be worth agreeing to wear helmets (I probably will anyway)

i think a lot of "violence" is curbed from the only similar contact rule

and do we need to come up with local rules for this tournament?

The parking lots at the Velodrome/BMX track/skatepark are pretty big? Dunno how much of a bust it'd be, but it IS a public park (for now), right?

There is also a decent sized parking lot for 3on3 or 4on4 at the Frank Obannon soccer fields at 16th and College. I think those parking lots at 12th and Delaware fill up with J-hovah's witnesses on Sunday and have no trespassing signs all over the place.
