Post road bike "conversion"
Anyone every put 'cross tires on a road bike? What do you have to look out for? I'd immagine there are issues with brake clearance and possibly rim width. Any advice would be appreciated. If it's feasible, I may consider it.

As long as you are putting 700c tires onto 700c rims you won't have any problems with mounting any size (28, 32, 36) onto the rim, but your brake clearance is going to be the big hurdle. Almost all cross bikes use cantilever or
V-brakes so that tire clearance is not a problem. If you have traditional caliper brakes you will run into trouble.

Measure the clearence you have right now between the top of your tire and the bottom of the caliper brakes front and rear, that should give you a good idea of how much more space you can handle.

Also lookout for clearance between the rim and fork. A track bike or a compact road frame will only have space for a road tire. You can buy different sized cyclocross tires (I think they range from 700x23 to 700x35) but even the smallest size is too big for tight clearence.

better explanation under clearence:
